Through our school’s partnership with James over many years, learnership has been embedded into our teaching, learning, wellbeing, coaching and leading practices. Learnership challenges teachers to focus on their own growth and attitudes towards challenge, learning and performance. Personally, it has challenged and nudged me to aspire to more challenging goals, ‘to get better rather than get busy’, and rediscover ‘wonderment and awe’ in my professional life.
James worked with us to tailor a professional learning program on student/learner agency suited to our needs. He got to know us as a school community first, and spent the time talking to us to construct PL that took into account our unique context. Our leaders and staff were really pleased with the result, with a 90 minute leader session, an excellent, engaging and effective whole day PL session for our teachers, and booked in for 2024 to continue the journey.
