Upcoming Events

The Learner Festival

Throughout August and September, I’ll be bringing you a series of online workshops focusing on developing more effective, skilful learners in your classroom.

Each 90-minute workshop will be packed full of powerful insights, practical strategies and classroom resources designed to have your students engaging more effectively in the learning process.

Growth Mindset Masterclass

Special HYBRID event - attend f2f or online.

This powerful and practical masterclass, run with Independent Schools Victoria, will give you the insights, understandings and most importantly the tools you need to move students along the Mindset Continuum.

Underpinning this masterclass is the key idea that teachers need to be teaching FOR a Growth Mindset, not ABOUT a Growth Mindset. This masterclass focuses on teacher actions, and how we focus and direct these everyday actions to ensure students develop a Growth Mindset and ultimately achieve more.

DATE: Friday 26 August 2022 9.30 am to 3.30 pm

Learnership - the skill of learning

Special HYBRID event - attend f2f or online.

Think of Learnership in the same way as you’d think about leadership or craftsmanship. It denotes a degree of skillfulness. Learnership is the skill of learning.

Too many of our students are passive learners. They wait to be lead through the learning process. They are satisfied with the immediate gratification of completion, rather than the long-term benefit of challenge. Many students lack an understanding of how they learn, much less what it means to be an effective skilful learner.

Run with Independent Schools Victoria.

DATE: Wednesday 7 September 2022, 9.30 am to 3.30 pm

The Learning Landscape

Special HYBRID event - attend f2f or online.

The Learning Landscape gives learners a concrete way to understand and improve their engagement in the learning process. It encourages students to undertake learning journeys, where they discover new knowledge and understandings, and ascend the mountains of expertise. Importantly, it helps students to realise that their success is a result of what they do, not who they are.

This event is run in partnership with Independent Schools Victoria.

DATE: Friday 19 August 2022, 9.30 am to 3.30 pm

Learner Agency

4 x 90 minute workshops. ONLINE

Learner Agency relates to a student's ability to navigate their way through life and positively impact their circumstances. It's about ensuring they are the master, not the victim, of their circumstances, and it is about students being powerful, not powerless, in the face of adversity.

A partnership event with the Principals Academy in Singapore

DATE: Thursday 25 August to 22 September, 2022

Flagship full day workshop

Do you ever feel like you are dragging your students through the learning process? Are you frustrated by passive learners in your classroom. Do you feel like you’re the one doing all the heavy lifting of learning in the classroom, and students aren’t holding up their end of learning? Do you worry that your students should be doing better?

In this flagship full day workshop, we will cover the key elements to understanding and developing Learnership in your students. You’ll learn how to help your students become comfortable with this discomfort of challenge, how to develop their Habits of Mind, understand and use the six different types of mistakes effectively, and to tailor their feedback.

Run with Learning Network NZ.

DATE: Thursday 27 October, 9.30am to 3.30pm

Learnership - the skill of learning

4 x 3 hour workshops. ONLINE

This is not a program, and it's not extra work. This is about engaging in pedagogies that focus on students understanding themselves as learners and then engaging them in the learning process more effectively. It's about ensuring students are playing their role in the learning process to make the most of the good work you do.

4 x 3-hour online workshops, you'll unpack the concept of learnership. These sessions are highly collaborative and interactive.

Presented in partnership with Chapters International.

DATE: 13, 20 October & 3, 10 November 2022
